PCA Conference demo’s at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Another PCA Conference is over, Sue and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with friends again, miss you guys already.

I was booked to do a demo at the CMOG plus a presentation, which went ok considering I caught a cold from the guy 2 seats back on the flight over. Anyway, I think it went ok!

For the demo, I’d decided to make a Well, with flowers growing from the brickwork, I’d assembled everything before we flew so I knew it all fitted. About two thirds the way through the set-up, my throat was raw, so I sent Sue to get me a bottle of cola from the shop. Upon her return, I opened the bottle which sprayed over me, the set-up and everything else in range…It took a while to get the plate mopped up. With the set-up finished and in the “garage” there was a sweet smell of burning sugar for a few minutes.

The staff helped with the heating of the plate, while Sue had the core to pick-up the pattern, eventually they were joined.

The finished piece apparently caused a bit of discussion with the CMOG staff after taking it out of the kiln so I was told.

During the “Silent auction” it raised a lot of money. There were 5 demos all going at the same time, we were  nearer the end, as the set-up takes about 1.5-2 hours to achieve.

All of those weights were included in a silent auction to raise money for the PCA.
