Glass in the Scottish Borders

Twists Glass Studio is based in Selkirk, a small town on the A7 between Hawick and Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders.

Twists Glass Studio operates from Forest Mill, which was an old Victorian textile mill now modernised and turned into manufacturing units.

Mike first came to the Scottish Borders in the 1980’s where he was production master at Lindean Mill Glass.

Becoming bored and wary of losing skills Mike set up Twists Glass Studio where he concentrated on the more difficult Venetian techniques.

Now a master of cane making techniques Mike uses these self taught skills to produce art glass, tableware, production and paperweights.

Mikes paperweights are sought after throughout the world and he is recognised as being one of the world leaders in making murine and murrine paperweights.
